In recent years, the use of new manufacturing methods such as additive manufacturing has attracted attention from industries including automotive, aerospace, medicine, and more The high speed of production, the ability to manufacture complex parts, and reduced waste compared to other production methods are among the advantages of this technology Laser Powder Bed Fusion L PBF is one of the highly regarded methods in this field The high speed of laser movement and powder melting creates a molten pool, leading to an increased solidification rate The high heating and cooling rates in this technology result in a high thermal gradient, causing large thermal stresses that can lead to defects such as residual stress in the parts In this study, residual stresses induced in the examined parts were investigated The commercial software ANSYS Additive was used for simulation purposes Parts made of Inconel 718 were simulated, and the effects of laser scanning strategy on residual stress were studied Experimental specimens were produced using two scanning strategies, namely bidirectional and chessboard, with two interlayer rotation models of 0 degrees and 67 degrees, and were examined X ray diffraction analysis was utilized for validating the produced specimens and simulations The results obtained from the simulations and experimental results were in agreement with each other The maximum level of residual stress was observed in the common region between the part and the build plate and around the specimen In the 67 degree rotation scanning strategy of the chessboard pattern, a 9% reduction in residual stress was seen, making it the most suitable scanning strategy for printing
