The present study aimed to examine the mediating role of emotion regulation in the relationship between parenting styles and stress coping styles with psychosomatic symptoms in adolescent girls This research employed a correlational design using path analysis The statistical population consisted of 12th grade female students in Darab during the 2023–2024 academic year who experienced symptoms of three types of psychosomatic disorders, including gastrointestinal problems, tension headaches, and respiratory attacks A sample of 200 participants was selected through convenience sampling Research instruments included the Achenbach and Rescorla Somatization Questionnaire 2007 , the Endler and Parker Coping Inventory 1990 , Baumrind’s Parenting Styles Questionnaire, and the Gross and John Emotion Regulation Questionnaire 2003 Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation, multiple regression, and structural equation modeling The results indicated that parenting styles and coping styles indirectly and significantly influenced psychosomatic symptoms through the mediating role of emotion regulation Specifically, employing adaptive emotion regulation strategies can mitigate the negative effects of maladaptive parenting styles and dysfunctional coping styles on psychosomatic symptoms The findings highlight the importance of focusing on emotion regulation strategies in designing psychological interventions for adolescents and show that enhancing emotional competencies can contribute to the prevention and reduction of psychosomatic symptoms
