چکیده مقاله
Thermal control is one of the most critical subsystems in satellite engineering, directly affecting the performance, reliability, and operational lifetime of spacecraft Small satellites, particularly CubeSats, face unique thermal challenges due to their limited mass, compact volume, restricted power budget, and increasing payload complexity Maintaining onboard components within their allowable temperature ranges is essential for ensuring mission success under the harsh thermal conditions encountered in Low Earth Orbit LEO These conditions include intense solar radiation, Earth's infrared emission, albedo effects, and periodic eclipse cycles, all of which generate significant thermal fluctuations throughout the mission This review paper presents a comprehensive overview of thermal control technologies used in modern small satellites The thermal environment of space is first introduced, followed by a detailed discussion of passive thermal control techniques, including multi layer insulation MLI , thermal coatings, radiators, heat pipes, thermal straps, and phase change materials Their operating principles, advantages, disadvantages, and typical applications are compared The paper also highlights the engineering challenges associated with thermal management in CubeSat missions and discusses emerging technologies that may improve future spacecraft thermal performance By providing a systematic comparison of available thermal control techniques, this review aims to assist researchers and spacecraft designers in selecting appropriate thermal management strategies for next generation small satellite missions
