چکیده مقاله
This study presents the synthesis, characterization, and wastewater treatment performance of a novel hybrid nanocomposite composed of graphene oxide GO and y alumina y Al2O3 Functionalization was achieved through silanization using 3 glycidyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane GPTMS for GO and 3 aminopropyltriethoxysilane APTES for y Al2O3, followed by covalent grafting via epoxy amine linkage FTIR spectroscopy confirmed successful grafting, with clear evidence of Si O Si stretching and reduction of epoxy ring vibrations BET surface area analysis revealed that the GO/y Al2O3 hybrid retained a high specific surface area 198 08 m²/g , comparable to commercial y Al2O3, confirming that GO did not hinder porosity UV Vis spectroscopy demonstrated the hybrid's high affinity for silver ions, as indicated by a gradual decrease in AgNO3 absorbance at ~430 nm with increasing nanoparticle concentration 1 5% Real world wastewater from a metal industry source was treated with GO/y Al2O3 at various concentrations 0%, 3%, 4%, and 5% Substantial reductions in chemical oxygen demand COD , biological oxygen demand BOD , and turbidity were observed At 5% nanoparticle dosage, COD and BOD were reduced from 1162 mg/L and 480 mg/L to 64 mg/L and 11 mg/L, respectively, while turbidity decreased from >1100 NTU to 1 62 NTU These findings suggest that the GO/y Al2O3 hybrid nanocomposite is a powerful multifunctional adsorbent capable of simultaneously removing heavy metals, reducing organic load, and improving water clarity Its scalability, stability, and synergy between GO and y Al2O3 functionalities make it a promising material for industrial wastewater treatment applications
