With the rapid growth of online gaming worldwide, examining the psychological, social, and personality related impacts of this phenomenon has become a significant area of research in psychology and social sciences This study aims to analyze the relationship between personality traits based on the Five Factor Model neuroticism, extraversion, openness to experience, agreeableness, and conscientiousness and the tendency toward online gaming addiction The findings indicate that neuroticism is positively and significantly associated with a higher likelihood of gaming addiction This suggests that individuals with high levels of anxiety, emotional instability, and vulnerability are more prone to developing gaming addiction On the other hand, traits such as extraversion and conscientiousness act as protective factors, reducing the risk of addiction Extraverted individuals, due to their inclination toward social interaction and group activities, are less likely to engage excessively in solitary gaming Similarly, conscientious individuals, with better time management and a strong sense of responsibility, exhibit greater self control over their behavior However, openness to experience and agreeableness did not show a significant relationship in this study, which could be attributed to cultural differences or variations in preferred gaming types These results highlight the crucial role of individual factors, such as personality traits, in shaping behavioral patterns associated with gaming addiction Based on these findings, it is recommended that prevention and treatment programs for online gaming addiction consider personality traits Psychological interventions can focus on reducing the psychological harms associated with excessive gaming and helping individuals manage addictive behaviors Furthermore, raising awareness among families and policymakers about the role of personality traits in gaming addiction can contribute to mitigating the adverse effects of online gaming
