The metaverse is a developing digital realm where individuals engage using avatars in immersive virtual settings As these areas evolve into intricate social and economic systems, they also provide fertile environments for emerging forms of criminal activity, like cyber scams, stolen identities, cyberbullying, and copyright infringements Current legal systems are not sufficient for tackling these issues because of problems with authority, implementation, and the distinctive characteristics of digital exchanges This article delves into the theoretical basis of criminal law in the metaverse and the difficulties of adjusting conventional legal systems to a digital setting It offers a progressive perspective on how criminal justice needs to adapt to the challenges of the digital age by examining key legal theories from Hart, Fuller, and Posner By using 35 current sources, the article proposes a forward thinking legal structure that can adjust to technology, stressing the importance of cooperation among governments, international organizations, and online platform companies
