This paper, titled 'Comparative study of methods for reducing legal risk in the oil and gas regulatory frameworks of Iran and the United Kingdom,' examines the legal systems and contractual strategies of Iran and the UK using qualitative methods Iran’s legal framework is evolving and aligns with modern international norms, while the UK's framework is deeply rooted in common law and backed by extensive institutional experience Although the UK provides an investor friendly environment with robust regulatory systems, Iran faces significant challenges in transparency, enforcement, and institutional accountability The study highlights that Iran’s reliance on state control and legislative unpredictability tends to increase legal risks for foreign investors In contrast, the UK system employs licensing regimes, independent regulators like the North Sea Transition Authority, and adaptable frameworks that address contemporary challenges, such as climate goals and the transition to clean energy The recommendations suggest that Iran should establish an independent regulatory authority, improve transparency, and adopt international best practices Implementing such reforms could attract more foreign investment, leveraging Iran’s substantial oil and gas reserves The research offers practical guidance for governments and businesses to align local legal systems with international investor protections This study provides actionable and effective strategies for reducing legal risks while fostering sustainable investments in the global energy sector It underscores the importance of adopting established systems, like those in the UK, to strengthen regulatory frameworks in developing countries like Iran, promoting economic growth and enhancing investor confidence
