Study of bearing capacity of strip footings on two layer sandy soils has been under discussion in geotechnical engineering In this study the limit equilibrium method is used to estimating the bearingcapacity of strip footings with the considerable difference in shear strength parameters The main point of this study is to determine the bearing capacity of strip footings on two layer sandy soils with static loads by the limit equilibrium and finite element method It will be revealed that the results from thelimit equilibrium method correspond well to the finite element method The PLAXIS 8 2 software is applied for the fine element method
