This study explores the integration of social cognition research into treatment strategies for schizophrenia, focusing on contemporary trends and potential interventions A comprehensive literature search was conducted in PubMed from January 2019 to August 2024 using the search terms: social cognition OR social cognitive OR theory of mind AND schizophrenia OR psychosis AND treatment OR intervention OR rehabilitation Inclusion criteria mandated that studies involve adult participants, focus on original research addressing social cognitive deficits, and utilize at least one behavioral measure of social cognition Excluded studies included those involving children or adolescents, review articles, and those relying solely on self report measures Through rigorous screening and consensus among two independent reviewers, several effective therapeutic approaches were identified for improving social cognition in individuals with schizophrenia These interventions were classified into four main categories: Psychotherapeutic Interventions, Cognitive Remediation Strategies, Technological Approaches, and Pharmacological Interventions The findings highlight the importance of incorporating social cognition focused interventions into clinical practice to enhance treatment outcomes for individuals living with schizophrenia
