Today, oil is very important both as a fuel and as its applications in various industries such as refineries and petrochemicals Petroleum reservoirs during their lifetime, go through three time periods named development, plateau and decline In many oil rich countries such as Iran, the petroleum reservoirs have reached their half life, which means they have passed the development and plateau stages For this reason, the management of these fields and planning for them is doubly important In each of these three production periods, reservoir management includes different functions One of the most important goals of reservoir management is to pay attention to revenues and expenses and find the break even point According to these values, investment and profit are optimized Gachsaran field is the second greatest oil field in Iran which is target of this paper In this study, on the one hand, the reservoir conditions and the oil production are simulated On the other hand, the capital and operational expenditures as well as the income from oil sales have been calculated Together, these two factors lead the engineering and management situation of the field to more production and more income The economic evaluation shows that it will take about 18 years for this field to achieve net profitability In practice, a large amount of development activities of this field, were implemented after this year and continued until the 44th year in particular
