چکیده مقاله
The emergence of generative artificial intelligence AI tools such as ChatGPT has transformed the cognitive and creative dimensions of academic writing This review explores how ChatGPT and similar large language models LLMs influence cognitive offloading—the delegation of mental processes to external systems—and how this affects creativity in scholarly composition A synthesis of research from cognitive psychology, creativity studies, and educational technology reveals two primary interpretations of ChatGPT’s role: as a cognitive collaborator that enhances ideation, linguistic fluency, and metacognitive reflection, and as a cognitive crutch that may reduce deep reasoning, originality, and authorial ownership Evidence suggests that AI assisted writing can alleviate cognitive load and stimulate divergent thinking, yet overdependence may hinder self regulation and epistemic engagement The paper argues for balanced, reflective use of LLMs that supports augmented creativity rather than cognitive outsourcing Research implications include examining long term cognitive adaptations to AI supported writing, while pedagogical implications emphasize the need for AI literacy, metacognitive training, and instructional practices that foster critical and ethical collaboration between human and machine intelligence
