Background: Major depressive disorder MDD is a recurring condition with high relapse rates, and identifying cognitive emotional mechanisms underlying relapse is crucial for prevention Rumination, emotional avoidance, and distress tolerance have been identified as key factors in depression maintenance and recurrence Objective: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between rumination, emotional avoidance, and distress tolerance with depression relapse risk in adults, and to examine the mediating role of distress tolerance in the relationship between rumination, emotional avoidance, and depression relapse among adults in Tehran Methods: The research method was fundamental and descriptive correlational using path analysis The statistical population included all adults with a history of MDD in Tehran in ۲۰۲۴, from which ۲۱۰ participants were selected using purposive sampling Data collection instruments included the Ruminative Response Scale RRS , Acceptance and Action Questionnaire II AAQ II , Distress Tolerance Scale DTS , and Beck Depression Inventory II BDI II Data analysis was performed using SPSS version ۲۶ and Amos version ۲۶ Results: The direct effect of rumination on distress tolerance was negative and significant P
