چکیده مقاله
With the advancement of artificial intelligence technologies, large language models such as ChatGPT are increasingly being utilized in linguistic tasks, including the translation of specialized texts Among these, legal translation stands out as particularly challenging due to standardized terminology, complex syntactic structures, and cultural legal implications Despite ChatGPT’s notable fluency and coherence in text generation, a significant gap remains in evaluating its ability to maintain conceptual precision and legal consistency This study aims to explore the challenges and opportunities of using ChatGPT in translating specialized legal texts from English to Persian Employing a qualitative approach, the research compares ChatGPT generated translations with expert human translations based on criteria such as semantic accuracy, terminological consistency, and alignment with legal structures The findings indicate that although ChatGPT performs well in generating fluent draft translations, it frequently fails in accurately rendering legal terms, maintaining uniform terminology, and avoiding fabricated content hallucination Consequently, the study concludes that ChatGPT may serve as a helpful drafting assistant, but expert legal oversight is essential to ensure reliability in legal contexts These results offer a foundation for developing human AI collaborative workflows to enhance the quality of legal translations
