چکیده مقاله
The mental health impacts of infertility are highly negative for women with the most common results being depression, anxiety and social isolation This systematic review integrates findings from 10 peer reviewed publications 2010 2025 made from PubMed, PsycINFO, Scopus, and ScienceDirect that examines the impact of perceived stress and social support on psychological distress of infertile women Adopting the Transactional Theory of Stress and Coping Lazarus and Folkman, 1984 and the Stress Buffering Hypothesis Cohen and Wills, 1985 , the review shows that experienced stress is highly associated with psychological distress, and that the emotional and the instrumental types of social support prove to be effective moderators of the effect Substantial reduction in levels of distress is experienced if one receives critical support of peers, family, or partners The scope of this research identifies the need to adopt holistic psychosocial interventions such as the cognitive behavioral therapy and establishment of peer support groups in fertility treatment clinics In areas where there are missing longitudinal and interventional studies, there are great gaps where future studies meant to optimize clinical practice can be undertaken
