Background: Though depression is commonly encountered in IVF patients it is usually overlooked because of its complex interaction of cognitive, emotional, and social factors Despite the heavy psychological burden that it involves, depression in IVF patients is rarely explained comprehensively Objective: Based on empirical data review this systemic study defines the cognitive, emotional and social determinants of depression in the women in the process of undergoing IVF, and proposes a joint CES model to help in mental health assessment and intervention Methods: The investigation involved a review of literature that was available in PubMed and Google Scholar from 2005 2025, in regard to depressive symptoms and psychosocial correlates in women in IVF Results: From a total of twenty study, symptoms such as catastrophizing, self blame, anticipatory anxiety, grief, deficient partner support and infertility stigma both aspects of cognitive bias and social challenge were found to be substantial depression contributors for IVF patients Recent studies highlight the concept of depression and IVF results being interconnected; depressive conditions can affect fertility success and failures while treatments can amplify or reduce depression Conclusion: Experiences of depression in IVF patients are informed by the interconnections of cognitive appraisal, emotional resilience, and social stressors The CES model is a strong conceptual framework for meeting psychological needs in IVF and helps guide clinicians, promotes new areas of research
