چکیده مقاله
Air pollution due to volatile organic compounds VOCs has become a significant global issue, prompting increased attention from public health officials and environmental regulators Among these, BTEX —composed of Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, and Xylene —represents a major health threat, particularly in gas stations where these toxic substances are routinely released during fuel handling and storage activities The objective of this review is to assess the health implications of BTEX exposure specifically for gas station employees, who experience prolonged contact with these harmful compounds The results of various studies indicate that such exposure is linked to severe health issues, including respiratory problems, neurological conditions, and heightened risks of carcinogenic effects In conclusion, there is an urgent need to prioritize public health concerning BTEX exposure Formulating and implementing robust health and environmental policies is crucial to address this critical issue Recommendations include regular air quality monitoring, the establishment of stringent emission regulations, and educational initiatives designed to raise awareness among both workers and the general public about the associated health risks
