چکیده مقاله
This research is an investigation of the effect of text based and video based brainstorming on descriptive writing content and coherence in two experimental and one control groups The number of 100 EFL Iranian upper intermediate learners participated in the study The objective is to investigate the developmental aspects of coherence and content in descriptive writing based on text based and video brainstorming The analysis uses ANOVA, Reliability inter rater , Pearson Correlation, mean, and standard deviation Main findings include the following: a video based brainstorming develops descriptive writing content; b that text based brainstorming develops descriptive writing content; c using video based brainstorming is more effective than text based brainstorming to improve writing content; d text based brainstorming enhances descriptive writing coherence; e video based brainstorming improves descriptive writing coherence; f there is not any significant difference between the effects of using video based and text based brainstorming on descriptive writing coherence The substance and method of this study can provide a foundation for investigating subsequent topics with latent variables and different linguistic backgrounds and grade levels
