چکیده مقاله
In this study, the Electrical Discharge Machining EDM process was investigated to examine the effects of key parameters on the material removal rate MRR of MO40 steel This steel is widely used in various industries due to its excellent mechanical properties, including high wear resistance and thermal stability The experiments were conducted using an Erosion 511 EDM machine and a copper electrode with 99% purity A full factorial experimental design was employed, considering two independent variables: discharge voltage and pulse on The material removal rate was calculated by measuring the mass difference of the samples before and after machining using a four digit precision balance The collected data were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance ANOVA and multiple regression analysis to determine the main and interaction effects of the input parameters on the output response The results revealed that the pulse on time had a highly significant effect on the material removal rate, while the discharge voltage showed a comparatively lower statistical influence Increasing the pulse on time led to a noticeable rise in MRR, as a longer discharge duration transfers more electrical energy to the workpiece surface, causing greater material melting and vaporization The maximum material removal rate of 0 00126 g/s was achieved at a discharge voltage of 70 V and a pulse on time of 400 μs The developed multiple regression equation also enables accurate prediction of MRR based on the discharge voltage and pulse on time values
