Water distribution networks are an essential part of a city's infrastructure Pipes, that convey water in a water distribution network, are the major part of a water distribution network costs Due to this fact, it is necessary to minimize this cost In this research, an evolutionary algorithm named Ant Lion Optimization ALO algorithm is applied for the least cost design of water distribution network To simulate the hydraulic condition of the water distribution network, here, EPANET software is used To link EPANET software with optimization method, EPANET Matlab toolkit is used in Matlab software As a case study, here, two loop water distribution network is selected The objective function of the optimization problem is defined as minimizing the construction cost by considering pipe diameters as decision variables of the problem The results show that the minimum cost value of 420,000 is obtained using the proposed method The results indicate the capability of the ALO algorithm to solve optimization problem
