چکیده مقاله
Objective: This study investigated the relationship between stressful life events and addiction in the society of people involved with addiction Method: Using available sampling method, 172 members of an addiction treatment center in Tehran province were selected as the research sample, and the Holmes Rahe Social Readjustment Rating questionnaire 1967 was provided to them Statistical analysis was done using correlation and multiple regression methods Results: stressful life events have a direct and significant relationship with the consumption of addictive substances Family problems and depression as the main factors predict the duration of drug use Also, gender is an important variable in determining the type of drug consumed Findings: People under the influence of family problems and psychological pressure turn to drug use to a greater extent Therefore, the development of prevention and intervention programs emphasizing awareness of family problems and caregiving can be effective
