Melanoma, recognized as one of the most aggressive skin cancers, continues to present significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges Recent advancements in nanotechnology, particularly the use of gold nanoparticles AuNPs , have introduced innovative theranostic strategies that integrate imaging and therapy This review examines the physicochemical properties of AuNPs, including size, morphology, and surface functionalization, and their role in enhancing various imaging modalities, such as photoacoustic imaging, CT, MRI, fluorescence, and photothermal imaging Furthermore, it discusses the therapeutic potential of AuNPs in photothermal therapy PTT , photodynamic therapy PDT , and as radiosensitizers The article also addresses the challenges related to toxicity, targeting efficiency, and clinical translation Finally, future perspectives highlight the importance of personalized medicine, AI integration, and novel nanoparticle designs to enhance efficacy and safety in melanoma treatment Overall, AuNPs hold considerable promise as multifunctional agents for advancing the diagnosis and treatment of melanoma
