Narcissistic Personality Disorder NPD is a psychological disorder primarily characterized by traits such as grandiosity, an excessive need for admiration, and difficulties in emotion regulation This article explores the role of the central nervous system in the onset and severity of NPD symptoms, focusing on brain structures related to this disorder, such as the prefrontal cortex, amygdala, and dopaminergic system The main aim of this research is to investigate the impact of brain function and environmental and genetic factors on the development of this disorder The article examines neuroimaging findings, including fMRI and PET scans, which reveal structural and functional changes in the brains of individuals with NPD Additionally, the influence of heredity and upbringing on the development of narcissistic traits is addressed The results indicate that genetic, structural, and environmental factors simultaneously influence the onset and severity of the disorder, with changes in brain regions involved in emotion processing, social evaluation, and self regulation playing a key role in the expression of narcissistic behaviors Finally, treatment suggestions based on understanding the brain structures and psychological traits of individuals with NPD are provided to improve therapeutic methods and prevent the disorder
