چکیده مقاله
The aim of this study was to investigate the social development as well as morality and personality of children and the educational method or approach that parents and teachers use to teach children's character and moral education The study was conducted in 10 schools in Naqadeh city, West Azerbaijan province Primary school teachers N = 272 and one parent of the children N = 272 participated in this study A mixed method design was used, and quantitative and qualitative data were collected using a questionnaire and document analysis, respectively Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the quantitative data and thematic analysis was used to analyze the qualitative data The study showed that among the six personality categories caring, honesty, emotional intelligence, responsibility, and respect , parents emphasized teaching children honesty M = 2 6, SD = 0 46 and responsibility M = 2 48, SD = 0 38 for their actions and behaviors Teachers place a high emphasis on teaching children respect and care for others, fairness mean = 2 62, standard deviation = 0 43 and respect mean = 2 63, standard deviation = 0 37 Giving advice is the most common approach used by parents and teachers This study shows that parts of moral and character content are included in different subjects However, there is a challenge in providing character and moral education as a separate subject in schools and the failure of parents and teachers to set good role models for children
