Resilience, as one of the most crucial indicators of mental health, plays a fundamental role in individuals’ adaptation to difficult conditions, crises, and psychological stress This concept reflects the ability to return to equilibrium after encountering traumas, failures, and life stressors Numerous studies have shown that resilience is influenced by various factors such as personality traits, supportive social relationships, coping styles, and environmental variables Furthermore, the significant roles of family, school, and society in shaping and enhancing resilience are notable The objective of this paper is to present a comprehensive and multidimensional analysis of the phenomenon of resilience—from its conceptual and historical definition to exploring underlying factors, positive outcomes, and strategies for enhancement at both individual and societal levels Accordingly, the theoretical background of resilience in psychology and behavioral sciences is first addressed, followed by a review of various theoretical models such as the three dimensional and interpersonal models The mutual impact of resilience and related concepts such as emotional intelligence, emotion regulation, psychological capital, and spirituality is also analyzed Findings show that teaching resilience at various stages of life—especially during childhood and adolescence—can lead to increased quality of life, reduced psychological harm, and improved general health In conclusion, practical recommendations are offered to enhance resilience in areas such as education, family, work, and mental health
