چکیده مقاله
Objective: The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between loneliness and emotion regulation in female high school students Method: This correlational study involved a statistical population of female students from districts 4, 7, 8, and 15 in Tehran Using random cluster sampling, 301 individuals were selected as the sample The research instruments included the Russell Loneliness Scale UCLA and the Gross and John Emotion Regulation Questionnaire ERQ Data were analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficient and simple linear regression analysis Results: The results showed a significant negative correlation between loneliness and emotion regulation and its subscales r = 0 397, P < 0 01 Regression analysis also confirmed that emotion regulation can significantly predict loneliness and explains approximately 16% of the variance in loneliness Conclusion: The results indicate an inverse and significant relationship between loneliness and emotion regulation in adolescent girls In other words, adolescents who use less adaptive emotion regulation strategies such as reappraisal and/or rely more on maladaptive strategies such as expressive suppression experience higher levels of loneliness These results emphasize the importance of teaching and strengthening emotion regulation skills as a protective factor against loneliness and its associated psychological consequences in adolescence
