چکیده مقاله
Irritable Bowel Syndrome IBS is one of the most common functional disorders in children, typically associated with chronic abdominal pain and gastrointestinal discomfort Despite its physical manifestations, modern research indicates that this syndrome has a complex nature and extends beyond mere gastrointestinal disorders Therefore, this article adopts a comprehensive approach to examine the determining role of psychological factors and gut brain axis mechanisms in the onset, persistence, and maintenance of symptoms in children Reviews suggest that children with IBS experience higher rates of anxiety, depression, and stress and anxiety sensitivities compared to their peers This study demonstrates that biological interactions between the brain and the gastrointestinal system, influenced by psychological and environmental pressures, can exacerbate the severity of gastrointestinal pain Furthermore, the role of familial factors, psychological traumas, nervous pressures, and others in increasing intestinal sensitivity is undeniable Typically, IBS in children is not diagnosed in a timely manner Consequently, a one dimensional treatment approach solely pharmacological for managing IBS is ineffective in children Integrating psychological assessments and interventions such as cognitive behavioral therapy and stress management alongside medical treatments is essential for alleviating symptoms and improving the quality of life for these children Understanding this disorder as a psychosomatic phenomenon paves the way for new multidisciplinary treatments
