چکیده مقاله
Delinquent tendencies among adolescents have become a growing concern in educational and psychological research, particularly in relation to school related protective factors From an educational perspective, academic engagement plays a central role in shaping students’ behavioral patterns and their adaptation to social norms The present study aimed to examine the relationship between academic engagement and delinquent tendencies, with particular emphasis on the mediating roles of life skills and employability This study adopted a descriptive–correlational design The statistical population consisted of secondary school students, from whom a sample was selected using an appropriate sampling method Data were collected using standardized questionnaires measuring academic engagement, delinquent tendencies, life skills, and employability The collected data were analyzed using structural equation modeling to test both direct and indirect relationships among the variables The results indicated that academic engagement was significantly associated with delinquent tendencies Higher levels of academic engagement were related to stronger life skills and greater employability, which in turn were associated with lower levels of delinquent tendencies Moreover, life skills and employability were found to partially mediate the relationship between academic engagement and delinquent tendencies, suggesting that these factors function as important protective mechanisms The findings highlight the importance of strengthening academic engagement and psychosocial competencies within educational settings From an educational sciences perspective, the results underscore the need for school based interventions that focus not only on academic outcomes but also on students’ life skills and future employability in order to prevent delinquent behaviors These findings highlight the importance of school based preventive programs that strengthen academic engagement, life skills, and employability as key strategies for reducing delinquent tendencies among adolescents
