چکیده مقاله
The fact that antimicrobial resistance is both organic and unavoidable makes it a major danger to the global economy and public health There is an urgent need for novel mechanisms of action, numerous therapeutic targets, and inventive products that are active against new targets and do not exhibit cross or co resistance with current antibiotic classes Secreted antimicrobial peptides AMPs are an important part of the human innate immune system and prevent local and systemic infections by inhibiting bacterial growth in a concentration dependent manner Due to these factors, antimicrobial peptides like bacteriocins are a promising class of new antimicrobial drugs that are being studied for clinical development Streptococcus pneumoniae is the most common cause of community acquired pneumonia and is also to blame for several other infectious illnesses in children, including meningitis and otitis media Community acquired pneumonia CAP , which primarily affects children under the age of five, the elderly, and individuals with underlying comorbidities, is primarily caused by pneumococci Pneumococci can asymptomatically colonize the nasopharynx, from whence they can spread to other regions of the airway, causing illness and inflammatory reactions Drug resistant bacteria continue to exacerbate bacterial pneumonia as a worldwide health problem, highlighting the necessity for the creation of novel antimicrobials The goal of this review is to assess recent progress in the discovery and development of antimicrobial peptides AMPs and their potent antibacterial effects against a variety of bacterial pathogens Additionally, the assessment emphasizes the significant obstacles to identifying and using AMPs
