Purpose: This study aimed to examine the simple and multiple relationships between sensation seeking, assertiveness, and their subscales with addiction readiness among adolescents aged ۱۳ to ۱۹ in Jahrom during the ۲۰۲۳ ۲۰۲۴ academic year Methods: The sample included ۲۶۵ male and female students from middle and high schools selected through multistage cluster sampling Data was collected using the Zuckerman Sensation Seeking Scale SSS , Gambrell and Riji Assertiveness Scale ASA , and the Addiction Readiness Questionnaire APS Statistical analyses included descriptive and inferential methods, with simultaneous regression and Pearson correlation used to explore the relationships between sensation seeking, assertiveness, and addiction readiness SPSS۱۸ software was employed for data analysis Results: Findings indicated significant relationships between sensation seeking and its subscales with addiction readiness, as well as between assertiveness and its subscales with addiction readiness in adolescents Both sensation seeking and assertiveness, along with their subscales, significantly predicted addiction readiness Conclusion: The results align with biological and psychological theories of substance abuse, highlighting sensation seeking as a key physiological and motivational factor in addiction propensity, while assertiveness skills serve as protective factors Therefore, training in assertiveness and managing sensation seeking may be effective in preventing addiction among adolescents These findings emphasize the importance of considering personality traits in designing prevention programs and psychosocial interventions for youth
