چکیده مقاله
Prediabetes represents a rapidly growing global health concern and a critical intervention window for preventing progression to type 2 diabetes mellitus T2DM Emerging evidence highlights the central role of gut microbiota dysbiosis characterized by reduced microbial diversity, diminished short chain fatty acid SCFA producing bacteria, and increased intestinal permeability—in driving insulin resistance and chronic low grade inflammation Inulin type fructans ITFs , including inulin and fructooligosaccharides, are well established prebiotics that selectively stimulate beneficial taxa such as Bifidobacterium, Faecalibacterium prausnitzii, and Akkermansia muciniphila Through enhanced SCFA production, improved gut barrier integrity, modulation of bile acid signaling, and stimulation of GLP 1 and PYY secretion, ITFs exert measurable effects on metabolic regulation Clinical evidence from randomized controlled trials demonstrates that ITF supplementation can reduce fasting glucose, improve HOMA IR, enhance postprandial glycemic responses, and promote modest reductions in body weight and ectopic fat deposition in individuals with prediabetes These findings suggest that ITFs represent a promising, scalable, non pharmacological strategy for targeting the gut microbiota metabolic axis and supporting normoglycemic remission Further long term and population specific studies are needed to optimize dosing, evaluate sustainability, and determine effectiveness across diverse metabolic phenotypes
